PREVENTION AND HEALTH PROMOTION ACTIVITIES
Traditionally, Centro Kades extends its prevention and health promotion activities to the socialization agencies in the national territory to encourage thinking with a non-academic but interactive approach. Furthermore, thanks to the “Challenge 1” Street Unit, we have the opportunity to meet young people (but also the less young) directly in places of aggregation where they obtain and consume psychotropic substances.
THE CHALLENGE 1 PROJECT
The Challenge 1 Project is a street outreach program started in 2002, using a suitably equipped camper. The program is aimed mainly at men and women with drug addiction and alcoholism problems to promote the desire to take care of themselves.
With the Challenge 1 Project, Centro Kades announces on the streets of Italy the possibility of having a new life free from any dependence through the power of the Gospel, which offers true freedom: “You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free” (Gospel of John 8:32).
The operational methodology is based on personal contact, dialogue, information, distribution of comfort food items and graphic material to inform people about the risks linked to the abuse of psychoactive substances and on the services present in the area that operate in the field of drug addiction.
The evangelical experience, Christian love and experience in the field are the inspiring principles of this activity, which testify that even in the most desperate cases, there is a concretely pursuable hope.

ENCOUNTERS IN SCHOOLS
We believe that the school experience can positively influence the behavior of young people if it promotes the learning of adequate relational skills and correct lifestyles, thus contributing to a “state of physical, mental and social well-being and not just the absence of disease” researched by the World Health Organization.
Over the years, we have had the precious opportunity to carry out prevention and health promotion interventions in many schools of all levels, also testifying to the beneficial power of the Gospel in the lives of those who have personally experienced it.
The prevention program for schools consists of the transmission of information to better understand the phenomenon of addictions. The meetings are held by qualified speakers and also make use of the stories of the experiences of the protagonists of rehabilitation.
SEMINARS
Centro Kades organizes at least one seminar annually, aimed at those who are eager to delve deeper into the issues related to the pathologies of addiction and related issues, not only from a scientific point of view but above all and in particular from a spiritual one, to help to understand these problems better and provide some valuable references to those who want to adequately direct and support people subject to various types of discomfort.
Meetings for churches. In collaboration with local churches who request it, Centro Kades offers dissemination and awareness meetings on the problem of addictions.
End of Program. In the month of May, a meeting is held to thank the Lord for the help given to those who completed the program at the Center.
